LARKANA - Some 1,299 Pakistanis released from various jails in Muscat and deported by the government arrived Karachi Tuesday morning. They were ferried to Pakistan in two boats. They were packed like sardines.

Most of them were sick and in miserable condition. The deportees heaved a sigh of relief when they found water and food for them. They were released after the FIA checked their travel documents.

The Omanese government had detained these Pakistani immigrants for illegally entering the country. According to sources, 10,000 people are still on the Pakistan-Iran border and their ultimate destination is Muscat and after entering illegally, they would travel to Dubai by road.

While, over 100,000 Pakistanis have been deported during the last two years. The human trafficking from Pakistan to the Middle East and Arab countries had increased due to multiple reasons, with poverty on the top.

In the year 2004, a total of 54,469 Pakistanis were deported from different countries on the charges of travelling on fake documents, entering illegally or overstaying. It may be mentioned here that during the last 24 years, the ABWTI has so far been able to get released more than 700,000 innocent prisoners who were illegally imprisoned in Pakistan as well as in other countries.
