Indian Underage Children in Pak Court

LARKANA: Judicial magistrate 4, Karachi west after hearing the arguments presented by the legal team of the Ansar Burney trust international for the early release and repatriation of two underage Indian children from Pakistani prison, has remanded the judicial custody till march 22for a further hearing.

The police on Tuesday produced Piwash Ramjee (7) and Bharat Babu (8) before the judicial magistrate, Irshad Hussain, in handcuffs. Ansar Burney trust international lawyers on human rights appeared before the court and moved an application for the release of the two minor children for their early repatriation to India.

The court after hearing the lawyers adjourned the matter till 22nd march for submitting more record and comments by the Singh home department.

In his application before the court, ansar Burney, advocate that the two Indian underage children were not aware of any crime at the time of their arrest; neither were they involved in any crime. He said that the two Indian children age 7 & 8 were arrested along with 15 male persons in the Pakistani sea area while fishing on November 24,2005and were sent to prison by the authorities. Earlier the vice chairman of trust Syed Fahad Burney.

And Syed Sarim Burney provided foods, sweets, new cloths and toys to the two Indian children. The children, 7-year-old Piwash Ramjee and 8 year old Bharat Baboo, were arrested and detained under the foreigners act. They were not in fact aware of any crime.

The Ansar Burney trust arranged a telephone conversation between the two children and their relatives in India. The emotions were overwhelming and the children began to cry, begging to go back to their families.

“we will soon be able to get the release of these two innocents, but unfortunately we have not received any reply or cooperation  from the Indian high commission for their return to India” Ansar Burney said.

A nd now that we know where the families are, we would like to take the children to their homes to reunite them with their loved ones. We hope that this move would help improve relation between the two countries”.
Ansar Burney added.

Meanwhile the Ansar Burney trust international has once again written to the Indian high commission at Islamabad, requesting for preparing necessary documents for the children and requested visit visas for Ansar Burney trust staff to ensure the safe return of the two children.
