KARACHI - a boat carrying 692 Pakistanis arrested and deported by the Omani government reached back home safely early Friday morning at Ghas Bander, Keamari. The release and deportation of these poor Pakistanis became possible due to the combined efforts of Ansar Burney Trust, Pakistan's Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs. They traveled in boat Al-Mohammadi 2, packed like sardines by the Omani government. Some of them were seasick.
The Ansar Burney Trust made arrangements for cold drinking water and food for them on their arrival after four days of painful journey at sea. They were released one by one after the FIA immigration checked their travelling documents issued by the Pakistan Embassy at Muskat.
The senior officials of all the four provinces were present at the Ghas Bandar, Keemari seaport, along with Chairman Ansar Burney Trust International, Ansar Burney, to gather information about agents involved in sending these people abroad on fake promises of better future with good salaries.
The Ansar Burney Trust has thanked the Director General FIA, Tariq Pervez, Ministry of Interior and Foreign Affairs of Pakistan and Government of Oman respectively as well as Pakistan Embassy at Muskat for their co-operation, while those sick or injured were rushed to hospitals. Describing their condition, Fahad Burney said that they had been in jails for different periods of times - from days to years - where their condition had deteriorated due to malnutrition and lack of basic facilities.
It may be mentioned here that during the last 24 years the Ansar Burney Trust has so far been able to get released more than 700,000 innocent prisoners who were illegally imprisoned in Pakistan as well as in other countries. Some of the innocents were born in prisons and released after 40 to 45 long years and some were released after 50 to 55 years.
According to Ansar Burney Welfare Trust International, over 100,000 Pakistanis have been deported during the last two and a half years.
