Pakistan Press International (17 December 2006)
ISLAMABAD, December 17 (PPI):The Pakistans renowned human and civil rights activist Ansar Burney has said that Pakistan is not in a position to bear more strikes and violent demonstration and demanded the arrest under terrorism act of those elements calling such violent strikes. He said government should bring those involved in such terrorism to justice. Chairman; Ansar Burney Trust International, Ansar Burney demanded with President General Pervez Musharraf to ask concern departments for the arrest of violent demonstrators and politicians, involved in damaging the image of Pakistan while calling violent strikes and demonstration, and their supporters involved in burning national and private properties, vehicles, damaging respect of women and young girls, blocking roads and involved in other violence against humanity. Burney said being a human and civil rights activist I have a firm believe that every person have a right to ask for his right as per constitution and UN charter of human rights but in Pakistan most of the Mullahs so-called politicians are involved in violence against humanity and have no respect of human rights and it is shame to them that all this they are doing in the name of Islam. In the name of Islam, humanity and human rights he requested to real Islamic Scholars to issue Fatwa; as to what is the punishment for those liar Mullahs who are using the name of Islam for their own interest and personal gains, enjoying all the government facilities and every time promising before public that they will resign from Assembly but still enjoying all the personal benefits, he added.
He said he have a great respect for real scholars of Islam or any other religion those who have full respect for humanity and human rights, but our so-called Mullahs are giving bad name to Islam and they should also be dealt with Islamic laws as prescribed in Quran and Sunnah for liar. In a strike called in Karachi on last Friday I have seen from my own eyes that long bearded Mullahs and students of some Madrassas were involved in violation against humanity. They were armed, burning private and national properties and vehicles, rioting and stone pelting, injuring by passers, disrespecting women and girls, even burnt ambulances and snatching gold ornaments from ladies, taking money and mobile phones from general public, Burney added. He urged President Pervez Musharraf, in the greater interest of peace; for the arrest of such criminal elements and other so-called politicians, under terrorists act, those involved in calling violent strike or demonstration in any part of Pakistan. He also urged President and Prime Minister to take stern action against those who are creating hatred among different people, religion and humanity. I would support any peaceful demonstration or strike as prescribed in Constitution of Pakistan and UN Charter of human rights, but I have no sympathy what-so-ever for the criminals and terrorist as well killers of humanity. Burney added.
