LAHORE — Pakistan will handover 115 Indian fishermen, presently detained at District Jail Malir, Karachi, to Indian authorities at Wagah Border tomorrow (Wednesday).

The Indian fishermen will be shifted in a bus from Malir Jail to Lahore today (Tuesday), where they will be handed over to Indian authorities at Wahgha Border the next day, official sources said Monday. The release of the Indian fishermen was made on the special directives of the President General Pervez Musharraf as a good will gesture. The arrangements for the transport and food of the prisoners were jointly made by the ministry of Interior and Ansar Burney Trust International.

The ABTI Vice Chairman Sarim Burney informed newsmen that the Indian fishermen to be released are in good health.

However, the rights activist expressed grave concerns about the state of Pakistani fishermen languishing in Indian jails.
“The condition of Pakistani prisoners in Indian jails is very miserable and they cannot even recognize their near and dears,” he added. He recalled that the Pakistani prisoners released by Indian authorities on December 22, 2006, were not in good health. The rights flag bearer Sarim Burney appealed the Indian government for keeping good atmosphere and treatment with Pakistani prisoners languishing in Indian jails in the greater interest of humanity.
