Ansar Burney visits Beijing to meet Chinese leaders

BEIJING, July 1 (APP): The Chairman of the Pakistani human and civil rights group Ansar Burney Trust International Ansar Burney arrived here on Tuesday and was greeted by officials of the Chinese Information Department.

Later Burney visited the High Court of Beijing, held meetings with senior judges including the Vice-President of the Beijing High People’s Court Mr. Wang ZhenQing and was briefed on the Justice System of China.

He also visited the National Supreme Court of the Peoples Republic of China, where he met with Senior Justice Dang Jianjun and was further briefed on the Justice System of China and the function of the Supreme People’s Court of Peoples Republic of China.

The Former Federal Minister for Human Rights along with his delegation, are on an official visit to China on the invitation of the Chinese Government to assess the human rights situation in the country, particularly the Chinese Justice System, Prisons and state of minorities.

They are also expected to lobby for the release of South Asian prisoners lodged in Chinese Prisons; and the delegation is scheduled to visit several prisons in China.

Ansar Burney, is also expected to meet officials of the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs, along with leaders of minorities during his 6-day visit.
