482 deportees arrive in City

Karachi - Around 482 Pakistanis deported from Muscat arrived in the city on Wednesday due to efforts made by an NGO, Ansar Burney Welfare Trust in cooperation with Pakistan Embassy.

About 32 Pakistani arrived in city on late Tuesday night through Aero Asia flight, while 40 others arrived on Wednesday through PIA flight. As many as 414 deportees reached city through launch.

Food, clothes and sandals were also distributed among the deportees.

Most of them belonged to poor areas of Punjab, where job opportunities were very little, according to Syed Sarim Burney, the Vice Chairman of the Trust.

Talking to the newsmen on this occasion, he regretted that human smuggling was continued as government had taken inadequate steps to curb this menace.

He said that fake agents involved in this exploitation of poor people were not being taken to task. He urged the government to take action against such rogue elements who exploited the poor.
