KARACHI: About 1,108 Pakistanis deported by Oman for illegal entry returned home on Tuesday aboard two cargo ships and were expected to be freed after questioning, a spokesman for a human rights group said.

The 1,108 men were deported by Oman at the request of Pakistan's government and Ansar Burney Welfare Trust.

Thousands of Pakistanis seeking jobs try to enter oil-rich Middle Eastern countries every year. Oman has deported more than 42,000 Pakistanis in the past two years.
